As the weather in Northeast Ohio continues to improve in these spring months, many people are looking to get outside and enjoy it. Based on reviews from Cleveland.com, Yelp and Google, we have compiled the best parks to check out this spring.
Lakewood Park
Located at the intersection of Belle and Lake Avenues in Lakewood, this 31 acre lakefront park has a lot to offer children and adults. Lakewood Park is known for its breathtaking views of the Downtown Cleveland skyline from its viewing deck. However, stunning views is not the only thing this park offers. Other activities include:
- A public pool
- Tennis courts
- Sand volleyball courts
- Playground area
- During the summer months, there are free concerts and movies in the park
- Handicap-accessible ramps
- Multiple picnic areas, including grills and tables
- Softball fields
- A skatepark

Middleburg Heights Community Center Playground
Located at the intersection of Bagley Road and Big Creek Parkway, this park is every kids dream. The Middleburg Heights Community Center Playground is broken up in to two separate playground areas. There is a playground geared towards older children, as well as a tiny tot’s area, equipped with mini slides, swings and a mini train. Other fun activities at this park include:
- A jungle gym
- Climbing areas
- Covered picnic areas
- A concession stand
- Baseball and Volleyball areas
- Tennis Courts
Coventry School P.E.A.C.E. Playground
This park, located at the intersection of Coventry Road and Euclid Heights Blvd in Cleveland Heights, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Coventry School P.E.A.C.E Playgroundis known for its tall and wide slides. Aside for its larger than life slides, this nautical-themed park includes:
- Planks
- Climbing walls
- Tire swings
- Several family-friendly events throughout the summer, including movie nights
Preston's H.O.P.E
Located at the Mandel Jewish Community Center in Beachwood, Preston’s H.O.P.E is consistently ranked one of the top parks in the country! It is the largest free playground accessible to children of all disabilities in Ohio. Every play area has a wheelchair-wide access ramps and walkways. There are also areas labeled in Braille. The possibilities are endless within this 60,000 square-foot play area, including:
- Imagination Village, which includes two-story houses and stores
- Swings and slides
- A play theater with performance stage
- A sand and water area
- Covered benches and tables
- A Kosher subway
Carlisle reservoir
If playgrounds aren’t what you are looking for, check out the Carlisle Reservoir located within the Lorain County Metro Parks. This 1,917 acre area is the largest of the Lorain County Metro Parks. On top of its scenic views of the reservoir, Carlisle also offers fun activities, which include:

Lake Farmpark
This is the most unique park on our list because it is not actually a traditional park. The Lake Farmpark, located in Kirtland, right off Euclid Chardon Road, is a family-oriented science and cultural center. The parks purpose is to teach children about agriculture, farming and country life. You and your family will have a variety of fun experiences, which include:
- Milking dairy cows
- Watching Border-Collies herd sheep
- Meeting farm animals, including horses, goats, pigs, chickens, alpacas and cows
- Learning how to make a variety of foods including maple syrup and ice cream
This park is open April through November. If you are looking for a fun and unique experience with your family, this park is sure to please.
